Selling land for development in Solihull

For landowners in the Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council area. Local plan status checked against council sources on 12 October 2026.

In short: if you own a field, paddock or larger parcel in Solihull, a land promoter may be willing to fund the planning work at no upfront cost to you. We can introduce you to one. Nothing happens without your agreement.

Where the local plan stands

Solihull withdrew its 2020 draft Local Plan from examination in October 2024 and started again, with a call for sites from November 2024 to February 2025 and an Issues and Options consultation in January 2026. In September 2026 the Cabinet was asked to endorse a Draft Submission Plan for a six-week consultation, with submission for examination planned by 31 December 2026.

Green Belt and grey belt in Solihull

Much of the borough outside the urban area is Green Belt, including the Meriden Gap between Birmingham and Coventry, which the council says the plan seeks to protect. Green Belt land that does not strongly serve its purposes may be assessed as grey belt under national policy, but every site is judged individually. Read our plain-English guide to grey belt land.

Places we look at

Including land around Shirley, Dorridge, Knowle, Balsall Common, Meriden, Hockley Heath. If your land is elsewhere in the area, get in touch anyway.

How an introduction works

Tell us roughly where your land is and its size. We do some free desk checks, then, if it looks promising and you agree, we introduce you to a land promoter who works in the area. Their fee comes from the eventual sale, and our fee is paid by the promoter. Always take independent legal advice before signing anything. More on how land promotion works.
