For landowners in the Lichfield District Council area. Local plan status checked against council sources on 12 October 2026.
Lichfield District stopped work on its Local Plan 2043 and started a new Lichfield District Local Plan 2046 under the new 30-month system. The notice of commencement took effect on 30 June 2026. The published timetable shows a first draft plan consultation in June–July 2027 and adoption planned for April 2029.
A council report notes that the April 2025 national policy update raised the district's housing figure to 746 homes a year, up from 289. Parts of the district in the south, towards Birmingham, are Green Belt. Landowners can follow the council's evidence work, including any Green Belt assessment, as the plan progresses. Tell us roughly where your land is and its size. We do some free desk checks, then, if it looks promising and you agree, we introduce you to a land promoter who works in the area. Their fee comes from the eventual sale, and our fee is paid by the promoter. Always take independent legal advice before signing anything. More on how land promotion works.
